Santa's Back in Town!

Hey Y'all!

It's Christmas Eve! For me that means my mom will be making Gumbo & divinity and everyone gets a pair of new PJ's to wear to bed tonight! My sister and I are both in college but my parents won't let the tradition stop.  

Over the past couple of weeks we've had a few family gatherings for both my mom's & dad's sides.  As usual, there were tacky sweaters included (actually, my mom, sister & I just decided to..and my boyfriend wore a "non-tacky Christmas sweater").  But I have photos! We also made a few things...desserts mostly, imagine that.

This is my first attempt at meringue cookies! They have chocolate chips inside. 

Here's the inside of one. It was a little humid so they turned out chewy instead of  tender.

This is my sugar cookie recipe topped with buttercream icing.  

My sister, the queen of buttercream decorated these for a party.

 That's Cooper, he is my Christmas gift from my boyfriend.  His mom is a toy poodle who weighs about 8lbs. and his dad is a bigger Miniature poodle, so he'll be right in-between.  But something sad happened to Cooper.

The day I brought him home I had him on my bed and was trying to get his leash out of my purse when he jumped off.  He broke his leg.  He ended up having surgery to place a pin in his leg and has stitches.  He's doing great now, but we've learned our lesson about letting him up on anything.  We have a toy poodle that's about 6 years old and she never did anything like that.  Cooper has a huge personality and is into everything.  He loves wrapping paper & ribbon, so Christmas has been interesting!
